Schugi is associated with Hosokawa Micron’s continuous mixing and agglomeration technologies for industrial powder processing. The Schugi Flexomix combines intensive continuous mixing with controlled liquid addition to produce agglomerated powders with improved flowability, wettability and dispersibility.
Schugi technology is used in applications where powders need to be mixed continuously, conditioned with liquids or enlarged into free-flowing agglomerates before downstream drying, cooling or further processing.

The Schugi Flexomix is a high-intensity continuous mixer and agglomerator designed to combine powders with liquids in a short and controlled process. Depending on the application, the process can be used for continuous mixing, wet agglomeration or conditioning of powdery materials.
For agglomeration applications, the Flexomix can be combined with downstream drying and cooling to create a continuous processing system. Process conditions such as powder feed, liquid addition, residence time and mixing intensity influence the final agglomerate properties and therefore need to be matched to the required product behaviour.

Schugi originated from the company founded by Mr Schuurmans and Mr Van Ginneken. In the 1950s, the company developed a continuous mixer for incorporating molasses into compound feed.
Further development of this technology led to the Schugi Flexomix in the early 1970s. The redesigned mixer made it possible to combine powders with larger amounts of liquid and to produce agglomerated material continuously. This development also led to the integration of downstream fluid-bed drying for sticky, freshly formed agglomerates.
Schugi became part of the Hosokawa Micron Group in 1992 and was integrated into Hosokawa Micron B.V. in Doetinchem in 2000.
