Mixing of Nuclear Materials

The Nauta® conical screw mixer has a proven track record in nuclear fuel manufacturing. It is used for the safe and homogeneous mixing of uranium oxides and for combining recovered plutonium with depleted uranium to produce MOX fuel. The mixer is also suitable for reprocessing weapons-grade plutonium into reactor-grade fuel under fully contained and shielded conditions.

Drying & Immobilising Contaminated Materials

The Nauta® vacuum dryer can be used to reduce the moisture content of wash liquids and contaminated materials prior to immobilisation. For solidification, the Flexomix mixer/agglomerator efficiently blends binders with radioactive waste slurries, forming stable granulates suitable for safe packaging and long-term storage.

Size Reduction, Compaction & Containment

Hosokawa supplies additional systems for the safe size reduction and compaction of radioactive materials. The portfolio also includes advanced containment solutions such as lead-shielded isolators, gloveboxes and filter systems.

These solutions are engineered to ensure full operator protection and to prevent exposure to product or emissions. We supply both standalone machines and complete nuclear-grade process installations.

Run trials with your own materials on production-scale equipment at our 2,000 m² Test & Process Development Centre in the Netherlands.
