Processing Systems for Carbon Black

With increasing demands for purity, safety and processability, carbon black must meet strict standards for grit content, flow behaviour and particle size distribution. Our equipment removes impurities, reduces fines and stabilises the material for safe handling and precise downstream processing—delivering reliable performance, batch after batch.

Milling & Classifying

Virgin carbon black often contains unwanted grit and oversized particles that can compromise end-product performance. The Mikro E-ACM classifier mill reduces grit levels to below 1 ppm (+325 mesh), ensuring ultra-clean powders for high-end applications. Combined with the Micron Separator, it provides precise particle separation and stable, repeatable output—even when processing low-grade feedstocks.

Agglomeration & Dust Control

Fine carbon black powders pose significant challenges during handling, dosing and mixing due to their dustiness. The Flexomix continuous agglomeration system transforms these fines into porous, dust-free granules with improved bulk density and flowability.

This high-capacity system produces agglomerates ranging from 100 to 1,500 μm, with a typical D50 between 200–700 μm. Capacities range from 100 kg/h to 40,000 kg/h, depending on material and configuration. The result: safer handling, cleaner processing, and excellent performance in downstream applications like tyre production and pigment dispersion.

Pelletising & Drying

For applications requiring compact, spherical pellets, the Mars Mineral pin mixer is used to bind and densify carbon black with controlled liquid addition. The resulting pellets are then stabilised in a Schugi fluidised bed dryer, which ensures even moisture removal and thermal conditioning—ideal for bulk transport and extended storage.
