Nauta® Minimix

Laboratory Mixer

The Nauta® Minimix is a conical screw mixer specially designed for laboratory-scale research and development. This compact yet highly effective mixer enables the gentle processing of free-flowing powders, fragile materials and even pastes and slurries—without the risk of product distortion. Based on the proven Nauta mixing technology, the Minimix delivers high-precision mixing results that can be used to reliably scale up to production-level processes.

Key Benefits

  • Gentle mixing of fragile, free-flowing and segregative powders
  • Effective processing of pastes and slurries
  • Uniform liquid addition to powders and pastes
  • Heating or cooling via temperature-controlled vessel
  • Pressure- or vacuum-rated vessel available (optional)
  • Available in three sizes: 5, 10 and 20 L

Principle of Operation

The Nauta Minimix operates on a convective mixing principle, combining gentle product handling with exceptional mixing accuracy without product distortion.

The system consists of a rotating cantilevered screw suspended from an orbital arm. The screw transports product from the bottom to the top of the conical vessel, while the orbiting arm guides it along the vessel wall. Gravity causes the product to flow downward through the centre, creating a continuous three-dimensional mixing pattern.

When recirculated by gravity in the conical vessel, the speed of particles in the downwards mass flow increases as the vessel diameter decreases. These simultaneous actions result in fast and intensive mixing with low power consumption and maximum uniformity.
