The Mini Cyclomix is a compact high-intensity lab mixer designed for research, process development and small-scale product optimisation. With precise process control and excellent reproducibility, the system is ideally suited for pharmaceutical, chemical and fine powder applications.

The Mini Cyclomix is available with interchangeable product bowls in sizes of 0.1, 1 and 2 litres. Adjustable mixing speed allows a wide range of processes — from pre-mixing at low speeds to coating, particle rounding, bonding and agglomeration at high rotational intensities.

Principle of Operation

The core of the Mini Cyclomix lab mixer is a compact benchtop unit with a diameter of 450 mm and a height of approximately 1 metre. It features a direct-drive servo motor, a built-in control panel, and a manually operated lifting mechanism that allows easy docking and undocking of the interchangeable product bowls.

The Mini Cyclomix combines both impact and shear forces to mix powders effectively. An agitator equipped with paddles and a knife blade rotates the product, generating centrifugal forces that move the powder upwards along the wall of the conical vessel. At the top of the cone, a specially designed dome redirects the particles downward through the centre of the vessel, creating a circulating flow pattern that is further enhanced by the agitator’s rotation.

Most of the mechanical energy is transferred by the paddles against the vessel wall, making full use of the cone’s surface area. This large contact area relative to the product volume makes the Mini Cyclomix more efficient than other high-shear blenders, enabling highly homogeneous mixing with minimal energy input.

Main Features

  • Easy to Operate
    The lab mixer is conveniently operated via an integrated touchscreen panel, allowing straightforward recipe management, data acquisition and data export.
  • Interchangeable Product Bowls
    The product bowls, available in 0.1, 1 or 2 litre capacities, can be connected to the drive unit easily and without special tools using a bayonet ring. This makes the mixer highly versatile.
  • Offline Filling and Discharge
    Since the product bowls are removable, they can be filled or emptied in a location separate from the mixer, such as a filling station or a glovebox. The bowls can be transported as a closed system back to the drive unit.
  • Temperature Control
    The 1-litre and 2-litre bowls are equipped with a jacket suitable for cooling applications and can therefore be used for temperature control.
  • Versatile
    Thanks to adjustable mixing speed and duration, the Mini Cyclomix lab mixer can also perform additional processes such as coating, bonding, rounding and densification, offering great versatility in operation.
  • Efficient
    With its high surface-to-volume ratio, the Mini Cyclomix lab mixer is significantly more efficient than many other high-shear mixers and delivers fully homogeneous mixtures with minimal mechanical energy input.
