Vitomix Ribbon Screw Mixer
The Vitomix ribbon screw mixer is a low- to mid-shear batch mixer that delivers up to eight times the mixing throughput of conventional conical screw mixers. The Vitomix is particularly suited to processes involving liquid or fat addition, coating, granulation, heating or cooling. Liquids can be introduced through the hollow drive shaft for even distribution without additional lump breakers.

How the Vitomix works
The Vitomix is equipped with two ribbon screws mounted on an orbital arm. The screws lift material from the bottom of the conical vessel towards the surface, while gravity returns it through the centre. This three-dimensional circulation produces rapid, homogeneous mixing.
The twin ribbon screws provide a high transport rate across an operating range of 0.4 to 6.0 m/s. At higher speeds, a fluidised zone forms in the upper part of the vessel, supporting efficient and uniform liquid addition.
Liquids can be introduced through nozzles or lances fitted through the hollow drive shaft. Their position and number can be adapted to the process without disturbing the mixing pattern or spraying directly onto metal surfaces.
